Gates Scholar - Jakhari Gordon
Congratulations to SMCA senior, Jakhari Gordon, for being awarded the Gates Scholarship. This highly selective, full cost of attendance, last-dollar scholarship is awarded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to 300 minority students in the nation each year. Gates Scholars are selected for an outstanding high school record, demonstrated leadership ability, and exceptional personal success skills. In addition to funding, The Gates Scholarship also provides technology-enabled mentoring, career services, and leadership training through graduation and the transition to their chosen careers.
Jakhari has attended SMCA since preschool and is currently the SMCA Student Government President. He plans to major in computer engineering. Jakhari is still visiting colleges before making his final college decision.
