October Spirit Events

October Spirit Events

October kicks off the start of a few of our favorite annual events that boost school spirit- The Homecoming Banquet, Spirit Week and Family Fun Night. The Covid-19 virus and restrictions kept us from having these events entirely or in the way we were accustomed to during the 2020-2021 school year, so this year we felt very fortunate to be able to safely have these events again.

Our events week started off with the Homecoming Banquet. This event is for our 9th -12th grade students. It was a night of good food, laughs, and lots of dancing. DJ Dameon said, “It was one of the best dance turnouts in a long time.”  Congratulations to our 2021 Homecoming King and Queen, DJ Seedan and Nailah Nurse.

The week following the Homecoming Banquet was Spirit Week. This is a week that staff and students both look forward to because it is a dress down week and school spirit can be felt as you walk around campus. This year our dress down themes were: pajama day, sports day, wacky crazy day / twin day (secondary students), destination day, and school spirit day. You never know what you will see during Spirit Week…a teacher with balloons floating from her hair or tourists rolling a suitcase through campus.

Spirit Week was wrapped up with Family Fun Night. Family Fun Night is an event for our Mustangs and their families to come on campus and enjoy an evening of fellowship, games, and food. This year’s turnout was amazing, not a parking spot was left to be had. This year we had our first food trucks at the event and they were a hit! We are hoping to add more to this event in the future. Our Middle Soccer Team kicked off the evening playing at home. Students young and old enjoyed carnival games and face painting. Our Jr. Mustangs performed for their families and a bonfire lit up the evening sky as we ended the night.

These events would not be possible without the hard work of the students and staff that volunteer their time to make them a success. We are so thankful for each and every person who helps continue to make these annual events ones that people enjoy and look forward to year after year.
