The Flowering Cross

The Flowering Cross

Once again, our preschool and elementary students have been challenged to bring in artificial flowers to cover our new, thirteen foot cross. This annual tradition was started a few years ago. The idea came from the  book “The Flowering Cross” by Beth Ryan. In years past, our cross was in a smaller scale in the chapel and our students were able to place their flowers on the cross together during chapel. This year we had to get creative and we are very thankful for our huge cross that Mr. Dameon built for us outside so students can safely partake in the experience. These flowers are an expression of gratitude to Jesus for His substitutionary death on the cross. My mom (Mrs. Colein) and I have been extremely humbled by the generosity of these students and their families, as they have excitedly brought more and more flower bundles to place on the cross in thanks to our Risen Lord. How beautiful a picture of the greatest sacrifice becoming our sweetest, undeserved reward. As we look to Easter, we give thanks for His gift to us and our HOPE that He has promised to seek and SAVE all those who are lost. The tomb is empty, the job is done, He is RISEN INDEED!
