Elementary Summer Reading

SMCA is kicking off its first Elementary Summer Reading Incentive Program. Elementary students are excited for reading and many parents are asking how to keep their students engaged throughout the summer. This program is not required but strongly encouraged! Below is a suggested list for each grade level. There are a variety of levels in each category. If you are trying to find a book on a specific level, please use www.arbookfind.com. Students much choose one of the required summary forms and turn it in the first week of school, 8/31-9/4/15, for an extra reading grade per summary form completed (maximum 5 per student.) Forms must be completed in the student’s handwriting and parents sign/date the bottom.

LE (Lower Elementary Preschool – 2nd) and UE (Upper Elementary 3rd – 5th) summary forms.

Students of all ages are encouraged to give an opinion on the books they are reading or have read. Want to share with your classmates? Email elementarysummerreading@gmail.com and we’ll share your thoughts, predictions, and questions on the summer reading blog at www.southernmarylandchristianacademy.com.

*ACSI suggested reading lists. Each grade level offers a variety of book levels. Parents are encouraged to help their children choose an appropriate level book.
