Senior Baby Project: A Week of Learning, Responsibility, and Reflection

Our senior class recently completed their much-anticipated Baby Project, and what a meaningful and memorable week it was!

Throughout the project, students were entrusted with the responsibility of caring for their “babies,” bringing them along to school, extracurricular activities, and even, for some, to their church nurseries. This immersive experience provided students with a small but impactful glimpse into the daily responsibilities of parenthood.

From ensuring their babies were always with them to tending to their needs, students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. They spent time “feeding” them, changing outfits, and managing the constant attention that caring for a child requires. The experience encouraged students to think beyond themselves and develop a deeper appreciation for the commitment involved in raising a child.

In addition to the hands-on component, students completed a baby budget assignment in class. They researched and calculated the cost of essential items such as diapers, wipes, clothing, formula, and furniture. They also planned for additional expenses, including unexpected medical needs and other real-life costs that families often encounter. This exercise helped students gain practical insight into financial stewardship and planning.

As part of the project, students also engaged in a reflective writing assignment. They thoughtfully considered how they would one day approach important parenting topics—such as marriage, discipline, and life choices—through a biblical worldview. This reflection encouraged them to connect faith with future family leadership and responsibility.

The Senior Baby Project provided a valuable opportunity for students to grow in responsibility, develop practical life skills, and reflect on the importance of faith-centered parenting. We are proud of how our seniors embraced this experience and the meaningful lessons they will carry with them into the future.
