Celebrating the Birth of Our Savior:
SMCA’s Annual Live Nativity
On Friday, December 12, 2025, Southern Maryland Christian Academy was blessed to host our annual Live Nativity, a meaningful event that beautifully shared the story of Christ’s birth with our school families and surrounding community. This special event was the vision of our elementary Bible teacher, Mrs. Beverly, whose heart for biblical teaching and student engagement helped bring the Nativity to life in a powerful and memorable way.
Our fourth-grade students served as the actors and did a wonderful job portraying the Nativity with reverence, confidence, and joy. Their preparation and heartfelt participation allowed the Christmas story to be shared in a meaningful and impactful manner.
We are also grateful to our National Honor Society students, who generously gave their time to assist with the setup and cleanup of the event. Their servant-hearted leadership and willingness to help exemplified Christ-like character and teamwork.
This year’s Live Nativity was further enhanced by the craftsmanship of Mr. Hayden, who built the Nativity structures with the assistance of Mr. Bowie, Mr. Grinder, and senior Elijah Gheen. Their hard work and dedication provided a beautiful setting that elevated the overall experience for all who attended.
We were especially thankful to once again include live animals from Mary’s Go Round, which added a special and authentic element to the Nativity. This would not have been possible without the generosity of our parents and students, whose participation in our dress-down day fundraiser helped fund this portion of the event. Their support reflects the strong partnership between home and school that we value so deeply at SMCA.
We would also like to thank Fellowship Church members, who added to the warmth of the night by providing tasty treats and hot chocolate for families to enjoy. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to Roy and Debbie Gibson for setting up the large screen, allowing everyone to gather together for a movie shown after the Live Nativity.
As Scripture reminds us, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11, KJV). We are thankful for the many students, staff, parents, and volunteers who worked together to make this event a success and for the opportunity to proclaim the true meaning of Christmas by celebrating the birth of our Savior.
